Nestled on top of a hill in the center of Old Town Warrenton, the Red Truck Rural Bakery is a super charming bakery that reflects the cozy friendliness of Warrenton and a touch of southern comfort . The morning I stopped in, there were several "regulars" there who had come by for their daily breakfast, hot cup of coffee, and a little friendly conversation.
The bakery case boasted pies, muffins, coffee cake, and delectable pastries. There was also an extensive light lunch menu that included sandwich on their artisan breads, and delicious looking homemade soups of the day.
While I was a little disappointed there were no cupcakes I decided I to taste the cupcake's cousin--blueberry muffin.
With my first bite of muffin, I was greeted with very fresh, whole, and down home tasting sweet treat. The muffin was so moist I could taste the richness of the butter. The blueberries were so fresh they tasted as though they had been picked from a bush in the bakery's back yard! There were light sugar crumbles sprinkled on top. The texture of the crumbles was the perfect contrast to the moist texture of the cake and the soft texture of the blueberries. So, if you ever find yourself in Washington, DC with some time to spare. I'd recommend taking a drive out to Warrenton and stock up on some sweets at the Red Truck Rural Bakery.

Unitl my next cupdate,
Lindsey
